Update on my personal New Year’s Resolution

 Hi everyone!

I wanted to let you know that I am very proud of myself this year! I feel like I’ve finally overcome the last barrier that was getting in the way of me reaching optimum health and obtaining the body that I’ve always wanted. Perhaps you’re wondering what someone like me, who overcame obesity at a young age and writes about health might consider “the last barrier”. Well I’ll tell you without beating around the bush: Exercise. Fact is, I HATE it (or used to at least).

But I finally reached that point where I was tired of being tired, fed up with being continually disappointed at myself. I reached that time in life when the excuses (even the very valid ones) don’t make you feel any better when you don’t do what you’re supposed to.

I was so ready to make that change and ACTUALLY commit to it that I didn’t even wait for the New Year to roll around; I started right at the beginning of December. Has it been easy? NO. I work hard and get up early and would rather be on facebook than go to a smelly gym. But it’s a heck of a lot better than complaining about my body shape (or lack thereof) for a whole other year. It beats having to eat like a bird every day because my body (no matter how healthy I eat) doesn’t burn the calories it should. And it makes me feel good and proud and…righteous 🙂

I don’t know what your personal health barriers might be: they can be big, small, mundane and phenomenal. But at the end of the day what matters isn’t the obstacle (there’s always going to be a surplus of those), what matters is what YOU choose to do about it!
